Stories from families we have supported in Brazil

I arrived in Florianópolis on my own, three months before giving birth. No family, no knowledge of the language, no support. This was my third birth, and I had always believed there was no need to pay for a natural process. But being alone in Brazil is a completely different story.

WHEN CHOOSING A COMPANY, I only considered official providers — with contracts, licences and training. Prices were roughly the same everywhere. But I chose THIS team with my heart — I simply felt they were my people. And I NEVER REGRETTED IT!

WHAT THEY DID:

  • ✔ met me at the airport
  • ✔ helped me find accommodation
  • ✔ took me shopping
  • ✔ showed me the most beautiful beaches
  • ✔ arranged my residence permit QUICKLY (even though everyone says it takes a long time in Florianópolis!)
  • ✔ citizenship, school, nursery — everything taken care of, and that is not even all of it...

I simply relaxed, enjoyed my pregnancy and felt cared for every day. We spent time together as friends — with warmth, sincerity and a personal touch.

IMPORTANT: you can do this yourself. But it will take months of stress and mistakes. With this team, you save time, feel safe and enjoy the experience. Alone in a foreign country — yet completely confident that everything is under control.

Believe me, it is worth the money. It is not an expense — it is an investment in your peace of mind. Thank you for giving me not just a birth experience, but a real Brazilian adventure without fear! 🇧🇷❤️

Victoria
Victoria after giving birth in Brazil — a Brazil Family client review

We want to say a huge thank you to the Brazil Family team for helping us settle comfortably into a new country and sorting out important practical matters! 😌

Anna helped us rent a comfortable home, and now the ocean is a five-minute walk away. Finding a good place just before peak season had seemed almost impossible.

Julia supported me through the final stages of pregnancy and all my medical appointments, driving me there and back home, which was very convenient. She answered all sorts of questions and supported me. I had previously visited a Spanish-speaking doctor in another country using Google Translate. I can say that having someone accompany you to hospital is not only comfortable, but also sensible and respectful towards the doctors. Julia also gave me incredible support during a difficult labour. For more than 12 hours at the maternity hospital, she helped almost non-stop to ease the pain of contractions and gave me massages. She communicated with the doctors and tried to convey all my requests. She helped me cope physically and emotionally and get through the birth successfully.

I am so glad we asked the girls for help. It made the last months of pregnancy easier and freed my mind from having to find solutions to all sorts of problems.

I also want to thank them for creating a small community, a friendly atmosphere and organising get-togethers. It is so important to feel supported and to be able to share similar experiences with other people.

Thank you, Brazil Family, and wishing you continued success! 💛

I want to leave a heartfelt review and share my experience.

Giving birth is such an important and emotional moment, and you especially want someone you can trust beside you. With Julia as my doula, that is exactly what I felt — calm, confidence and support. With her, the birth felt much gentler and more reassuring than I could have imagined. She was there not just physically, but emotionally too — helping, guiding and supporting me when I needed it. She is someone who makes you feel unafraid.

I also want to mention Anna — she became our very own ‘tooth fairy’ 😊, so thoughtful and attentive.

Alexey helped us with the documents. His attention to detail, responsibility and support at every stage, from the very beginning through to submitting the applications, gave us peace of mind and confidence that everything would be done properly.

Thank you for your care, involvement and human warmth. May you have many grateful families, and may the kindness of your work come back to you as happiness and wellbeing 🤍

I gave birth with Julia as my doula. @Marchenkoprava

I spoke with several doulas, but Julia and I really connected.

I had actually wanted a home birth, but my husband was against it and worried, so I decided not to argue. We went to the maternity hospital instead. With Julia, everything was well organised. At our meeting before the birth, we discussed everything, and she explained what to do at each stage. This was my first baby, and I did not know the language yet, so it was important to have someone who understood and could help communicate with the staff. Google Translate was definitely not an option.

I gave birth naturally, but I was considered at risk, so Julia really had to advocate for me to avoid interventions, and she did an excellent job.

Julia drove us to the maternity hospital once contractions had started, registered me, translated what the doctors said and explained everything to me. Whenever I had questions, she checked with the doctors.

The contractions were very intense, and Julia helped me through them with massage, REBOZO, aromatherapy, encouraging words and support. She even took photos for me 🫶 — special thanks for that, because giving birth was all I could manage at the time 😂

She stayed in touch after the birth and, a little later, performed a rebozo closing ritual for me. I really recommend this practice to all women: it helps you bring the experience to a close and let go of everything you have been feeling.

If giving birth without interventions is important to you, I recommend having a doula with you. Different situations can arise, and a doula is someone who can stand up for your rights and help guide the birth in the right direction.

I recommend Julia as a calm under pressure, responsible and deeply committed doula. With her, you can relax, stop overthinking and focus fully on giving birth 🫶

Afterwards, Julia also helped us get our baby's birth certificate. Of course, the procedure itself is not complicated, but it was comfortable to go with her and get the certificate without any extra hassle.

Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend having a doula, but discuss in advance what you want from the service.

Many people here give birth without one too. It is individual and depends on how you feel about it.

Tuyara Sevastyanova after giving birth in Brazil with the Brazil Family team

My dear Julia and Anna, and the Brazil Family team — thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your help! 🥰

I was incredibly lucky to meet you. I am so happy you came into my life — I chose you with my heart and never regretted it for a second.

A special thank you to my doula, Julia @Marchenkoprava. 💛

First of all, everything turned out just as we had planned. Although Julia did burst my bubble at our very first consultation by saying that 23 November was the first day of Sagittarius — I had been sure that my due date, 21 November, was the first day 😆 But we quickly convinced each other that I would give birth on Julia's birthday 🥰 And that is exactly what happened 🥰

My dear Julia, thank you with all my heart for your support, care and the calm you gave me at every step.

Your kindness, attention and confidence were an enormous source of strength for me. Thanks to you, I felt safe and knew there was someone beside me whom I could trust completely.

Thank you for your generous spirit, the warmth of your hands and for being beside me at such an important and moving moment in my life 💛☺️🥰😘

Frequently asked questions

Is birth tourism legal in Brazil?

Yes. You can travel to Brazil during pregnancy, receive private medical care, and register your baby as a Brazilian citizen under jus soli, provided you meet visa and entry requirements. An exception applies to foreign parents serving their own country.

Do doctors in Florianópolis push for unnecessary C-sections, or are natural births preferred?

Our priority is to support a vaginal birth whenever it is safe for you and your baby. A C-section may be recommended for medical reasons, such as concerns about the baby’s wellbeing, problems with the placenta, or labor that is not progressing; it can be planned or urgent. Your certified English-speaking doula stays in touch, helps you discuss your birth preferences with your medical team, and supports you throughout labor.

Can parents get residency if the baby is born in Brazil?

Yes. Parents of a Brazilian child can apply for permanent residency through family reunification. We help you prepare the documents and complete the application process.

Do we need to speak Portuguese to deal with the Cartório and Federal Police?

No. Your bilingual coordinator helps with paperwork and accompanies you to the government appointments included in your package, so you do not have to navigate them alone.

What is the exact timeline for parents’ residency and citizenship?

Your baby is generally Brazilian at birth; registration and a passport require paperwork. Parents can apply for residency, then may qualify for citizenship after one year of qualifying residence, subject to Portuguese-language and other legal requirements. Processing times vary.

How long do we need to stay in Brazil after the birth?

Plan for around 1 to 1.5 months after delivery for postnatal checks and your baby’s documents. If you also plan to obtain residency, allow around 4 months. Allow flexibility for recovery and appointment availability.
